An opportunity has arisen to lead the Adaptations and Grants Team in the role of Adaptations and Grants Service Manager.

Working closely with Gateshead Council’s Occupational Therapy Support Team, the Adaptations and Grants Team provides a cross-tenure service managing applications for Disabled Facilities Grant, as well as the provision of adaptations to council-owned properties in Gateshead.

Leading a team who will process grant applications and liaise with customers, you will manage the Disabled Facilities Grant budget and the council adaptations budget. The role requires close working with internal and external partners (including Occupational Therapists, Architects and Contractors) in order to solve problems and deliver effective solutions that meet needs and ensure value for money.

The successful candidate will use their knowledge of the Housing Grants, Construction and Renovation Act 1996, Care Act 2014, and planning and building control regulations, as well as their understanding of the wide range of needs of service users, to find effective solutions through partnership working. A degree or relevant professional qualification would be desirable.
