Northumberland County Council is a progressive authority with high standards in the provision of timely, accurate and quality legal advice.

As a member of the legal support team, you will provide administrative support for lawyers and legal executives, and help with the day-to-day tasks involved in running an in-house legal team.

Tasks will be varied and depending on the daily needs of the service your duties could include:
• typing letters and producing legal documents such as leases, agreements and court forms
• working from dictated notes
• answering telephone calls, letters, faxes and e-mails
• organising diaries and making appointments
• collating documents using electronic database
• filing and other general clerical work

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and knowledge

• excellent secretarial skills (audio transcription skills are desirable)
• some knowledge of the law and legal procedures
• computer literacy
• a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
• discretion, for dealing with confidential information
• a good standard of spelling and grammar
• the ability to work to deadlines
• the ability to work well as part of a team and also on your own
• a polite, helpful manner.
