Further Information
North Tyneside Council is urgently seeking specialist carers for our Adolescent Specialist Placement scheme (ASPs).
The purpose of the Adolescent Specialist Placement Scheme is to provide short-term placements to a child aged 12+. The placement offers the opportunity to learn pro-social skills and to interrupt cycles of negative behaviour in preparation for a return to family or to a long-term placement.
We are looking for people who could make a difference to a child’s life and future, who have the resilience to manage challenging teenage behaviour and can be actively involved in planning and implementing a plan for a young person.
Foster carers should have an understanding of the risks to children and young people including; sexual exploitation, sexual abuse, substance misuse, alcohol use, offending, lack of pro-social skills, aggressive behaviours, mental health issues, self harm and risk taking.
You will receive
• £350.00 basic weekly fee rising to £784.05 whilst a child is in placement
• 28 days holiday per year; note weekends are included in this calculation
• Ongoing training and 24-hour support from the Fostering Service
• Therapeutic support
• Dedicated supervising social worker
• High level of supervision.
