Tees Archaeology is part funded by both Hartlepool and Stockton Borough Councils and holds the HER and provides planning advice to both, in addition it carries out a range of income generating projects focussing on community participation and archaeological research.

The Archaeologist (Planning) takes the lead in monitoring development proposals for the area, assessing their potential impact on archaeological sites and proposing mitigation strategies in consultation with planning officers and developers. The post is responsible for approving the specifications for archaeological work and monitoring it.

In addition you will be expected to assist in the income generating activities of the service and in maintaining the service's website.

You will be an archaeology graduate (or equivalent) with a number of years of experience of professional archaeology and a sound knowledge of the operation of archaeology within the planning process.
