Cleveland Fire Authority is seeking to recruit ambitious, innovative and forward-thinking individuals to two positions of Area Manager. We consider ourselves to be a high performing, innovative organisation within the North East of England that is well regarded by the communities it serves and the partner agencies with which we do business.

Our organisation has faced a period of unprecedented financial pressure which means that the successful candidates will need to have the ability to deliver transformational change working in partnership with a wide range of stakeholders. In what are challenging times for all public sector organisations, we want to stand out from the crowd and ensure that local people continue to receive the best possible services. This will require excellent leadership, resource management, business planning and decision-making skills.

The role of Area Manager is rewarding and challenging and will require you to be able to demonstrate a proven track record in strategy development and implementation, lead high performing teams, drive cultural change and the ability to work effectively in a political and unionised environment.

Working directly to the Assistant Chief Fire Officer Community Protection, the successful candidates will to need to be strategically minded and achievement focused, with strong communication, negotiating and influencing skills. An open and engaging style of leadership and a commitment to inclusivity and diversity will be essential as well as being a role model for our Brigade’s values and behaviours.

The post holders will be required to perform operational incident command at Level 4 as part of the Principal Officer Rota; assume Gold Strategic Command in the absence of a Principal Officer and, outside the PO Rota, to be continuously available to the Authority and Brigade for appropriate duties as may be necessary.

If you can champion original thinking, promote excellence, drive positive and sustainable change we would like to hear from you.

Applications are invited from competent Group Managers and existing Area Managers.

For informal discussions only, prior to closing date of applications, contact Personal Assistant to Chief Fire Officer Ian Hayton on telephone number 01429 872311
