Middlesbrough Front Door Duty Assessment Teams have vacancies for six qualified social workers who have completed their ASYE programme. This is an exciting opportunity to join Middlesbrough as we expand to six assessment teams within our front door.

Middlesbrough is a fantastic place, proud of its heritage and ambitious enough to shape an entirely different future. We have set out our city-scale plans to deliver over GBP 600 million of investment that will promote economic growth and strengthen both our regional and national reputation as a destination of choice. Our ambition for our children and young people is equally high with a workplace culture that has high expectations, high challenge, and high support.

Following a challenging inspection, we are pleased to be working with our children, young people and their families, our employees and partner agencies to transform our social work practices and make a difference to the lives of the families and young people of Middlesbrough.

Within Middlesbrough we have adopted a “children and relationships first” practice model; with a commitment and passion to ensure “Middlesbrough children matter” and to deliver a service that children and young people experience as good.

As a Social Worker in the Assessment Teams you will be passionate about ensuring that children and young people in the Borough get the right help at the right time and that they have a voice in the work that you do.

You will be a qualified Social Worker who already has experience in Children’s Safeguarding including undertaking children and family assessments, carrying out S47 investigations, working with children and families to formulate safety plans, risks assessments and child in need and child protection plans. You will be able to draw on support from Senior Resource Workers to provide additional intervention and support for families.

You will have the skills to work in partnership with partner agencies such as health colleagues, police, housing and CAMHS to name a few with the advantage of being co-located with the multi-agency front door team.
You will be passionate about working with children and families, have excellent communication, assessment and intervention skills and a commitment to good quality practice.

Middlesbrough are also offering an impressive ‘welcome to Middlesbrough’ incentive of up to £5,000 dependent on experience and level. All staff are entitled to up to 31 days annual leave, free parking, agile/flexible working, and a range of employee benefits including high quality training & development, and a culture of high support and high challenge as we aspire to develop the best possible environment for good practice to develop.

Within Middlesbrough you will have professional development opportunities through a range of learning including practice educator training, AGE, AIM and ABE assessment training. It is important that you have excellent written skills, and are proficient in using IT. We will provide you with devices and equipment that promotes flexibility in how you work, and training in LCS, our electronic child record system.
