This is an exciting time to join the Art Team at North East Museums, to work on the archive and collection of Nerys Johnson (1942–2001), an artist and curator active in the North East of England throughout the late twentieth century. This is a fixed term post for 12 months.
 
We are currently seeking an Assistant Keeper of Art to work with our Keeper of Art and a Collaborative Doctoral Award student (Northumbria University) to complete the cataloguing and storage of this important collection. The post will be based at the Laing Art Gallery and the post holder will have the opportunity to engage with the wider activity of the gallery, including the de-installation of the current Nerys Johnson exhibition and the curation of highlight boxes exploring aspects of Johnson’s practice for use by different groups.
 
We are seeking an enthusiastic curator, with proven organisational and collections management skills, who will thrive in both a busy working environment and working independently in the collections stores. This is an ideal opportunity to develop skills to become an experienced, flexible and multi-skilled art curator.
