The Council is seeking to recruit two Building Control Surveyors to support the delivery of its building control service. You will form part of a client focussed team with responsibility for the provision of the full range of building control services including plan checking, site inspections and enforcement. Supported by the Senior Officers you will have responsibility for your own caseload of Building Regulation Applications/Full Plans/Building Notices and Regularisations submitted for approval and deal with this caseload within service time limits and assessing their ability to meet the requirements of the Building Regulations.

You must have a good standard of general education demonstrating numeracy and literacy, knowledge of the main operational, procedural and practical issues relating to the service along with knowledge of current laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and developments relating to building control. You should have experience in building control or a closely related field, be able to communicate effectively and be able to understand building plans.It’s essential that you’re computer literate with the ability to adapt various software packages. You’re also able to work under pressure and use your own initiative. Customer focused, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you work effectively as part of a team. What’s more, you’re in possession of a car and you hold a current driving licence.

The posts involve travel to construction sites throughout the area on a regular basis therefore you must be able to meet the transport requirements.
