The Governors of Broom Cottages Primary and Nursery School wish to appoint a Caretaker for 37 hours per week, whole year round to provide effective cleaning and caretaking support to the school. The main responsibilities will be ensuring that the security and general appearance of the building and surrounding areas (including the school swimming pool) are maintained in accordance with required standards whist ensuring a safe environment for our children, staff and any visitors.
The successful applicant will:
• Have good written and verbal communication skills
• Have experience of working effectively with a wide range of people
• Have a clear vision and understanding of the needs of a school
• Have the ability to interpret data and can use COSHH risk assessments
• Be flexible in their approach to work and work effectively alone and as part of a team.
The successful applicant will be self-motivated, willing to learn and meet the high standards expected from all Broom Cottages Primary and Nursery School staff.

Please note that this position is whole time, which means that you will be in attendance at work all year round (52 weeks a year) and will have an annual leave entitlement (26 days if you have less than 5 years’ continuous local government service, 31 days if you have in excess of 5 years’ continuous local government service; pro rata for part time), which must be taken during school closure periods. During periods of school closure outside of your annual leave entitlement, you are required to be in attendance at work.
