St Bede’s RCVA Primary School
St Bede’s RCVA Primary School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, conscientious, self-motivated and reliable individual to the role of Caretaker. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential as an aspect of the role will be line management of all cleaning staff.
The role will involve responsibility for the security of the premises, general maintenance work and repairs, Health and Safety issues relating to the building, cleaning and porterage duties. It is essential that the successful candidate is capable of regular stooping, bending, lifting and carrying of equipment, materials and furniture, and is able to climb ladders.
The successful applicant must be positive, hard-working and have a strong commitment to high standards of service delivery and customer care.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate a flexible attitude in a demanding and varied role, including during community events in the school calendar such as School Fairs, Christmas Productions, Open Evenings and Parents Evenings.
Ideally candidates should have proven caretaking skills with an ability to undertake maintenance of the fabric, fixtures and services of the school premises and grounds to a high standard.
The successful applicant will be required to carry out DIY above and beyond the scope of a competent DIY person, completing more specialised work as required. Further essential qualifications and experience is outlined in the Person Specification.
This post is 30 hours per week, or 6 hours per day.
Hours of work: 6.30am – 9.30am and 3.30pm – 6.30pm. The contract is 52/52, meaning the work is all year round and not limited to term time only.
This is a fixed term contract for 1 year.
