Two posts - one permanent and one fixed term for 12 months
We are a friendly and highly professional team working closely within a multidisciplinary framework to support children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in Gateshead.
The SEND Service has responsibility for the assessment and review of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). We are seeking to recruit two case workers to join our highly effective team. You will manage casework and statutory assessments; overseeing the assessment, planning and review process for families across schools and a range of service providers, including education, health and social care and voluntary sectors and ensuring effective and timely delivery of the EHC needs assessment process and EHC Plans.
You should be qualified to NVQ Level 3 in a relevant discipline or equivalent and have GCSE Maths and English at Grade C or above and have a high level of interpersonal and initiative skills. Experience and knowledge of working within the SEN Code of Practice guidelines in a Local Government, Health Authority or similar organisation setting is essential. Experience of staff management and budget monitoring and knowledge of specialist ICT packages is also essential.
