The Governors are seeking to appoint two highly effective and reflective classroom practitioners. The posts are suitable for newly qualified or experienced teachers.

Candidates should be highly motivated with a desire to continually develop their own teaching, leadership and management skills to ensure that all pupils succeed in our caring, nurturing environment.

Howden-le-Wear Primary School is a popular village school located in rural County Durham. We are a smaller than average sized primary school with a rising school roll that attracts pupils from both the immediate community and further afield. We are slightly above national average for FSM, SEND, deprivation and mobility. Our curriculum is challenging, exciting and develops our children to be independent learners. Howden le Wear Primary School is a warm and happy school. Staff pride themselves on maintaining high standards of care, achievement and progress for all our pupils.
Our most recent Ofsted inspection in January 2015 identified our school as ‘Outstanding’.

One of the main strengths of the school is its team of talented, enthusiastic staff. They should be forward thinking and committed to high quality curriculum provision for all pupils.

The successful candidates will not only benefit from the support of a committed teaching and support staff, but also be part of a team which is enthusiastically driving the school forward and building upon its achievements. We aim to offer excellent support for teachers wishing to progress in their career.

We require two teachers who:
• Are outstanding classroom practitioners;
• Have excellent knowledge of the curriculum;
• Have an excellent understanding of assessment;
• Work effectively as part of a Key Stage and whole school team;
• Can contribute to the wider school community.

What we can offer:
• Personalised professional development opportunities;
• Highly effective support staff;
• Enthusiastic children who enjoy coming to school and display positive attitudes to learning;
• A forward thinking, committed and skilled team of professionals to work alongside;
• A warm, collegiate and supportive environment in which to develop your career;
• A supportive, forward thinking Governing Body.

Please contact the school office to arrange an appointment. If you are unable to attend at these times but wish to visit, please contact us and we will try to organise a mutually convenient time.

The Governing Body and school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Any offer of employment will be subject to receipt of a satisfactory Disclosures and Barring Service check.

Durham County Council is an Equal Opportunities Employer. We want to develop a more diverse workforce and we positively welcome applications from all sections of the community.
