The Community Occupational Therapy Service in Sunderland is seeking to recruit a full time Occupational Therapist to work with adults and children living with physical disabilities and long term health conditions.

The post involves assessment of the person, their family/carers and environment, leading to the provision of advice, guidance, appropriate equipment or structural alterations to the home.

There are also opportunities to work with customers in other community based settings.

The post is based within Sunderland’s Independent Living Centre, with opportunities for agile and flexible working.

The post holder will be responsible for the management of their caseload under the supervision of their manager. Candidates should have well developed time management and organisational skills, with the ability to create excellent therapeutic relationships and work creatively with their customers.

The service is committed to supporting under graduate education, and if not already qualified in practise education, there would be an expectation that this would be achieved once in post in order that the post holder can offer regular placement experience.

This post is exempt from the rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore will be subject to a DBS check from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
