New College Durham Academies Trust comprises of two large Academies, Consett Academy and North Durham Academy, located some six miles apart in North West Durham. New College Durham, is our lead sponsor and both Academies are located in multi million pound new builds, offering unrivalled state of the art facilities for our students and communities in Consett and Stanley.

Reporting directly to the Academies Trust Board, we currently require an exceptional Company Secretary to steward effective Corporate Governance of New College Durham Academies Trust, (NCDAT).

Grade 6 – 24 hrs pw – Term Time Only
£16,709 - £18,510 pa, actual salary

The successful candidate will provide administrative support and advice to the Board of NCDAT and its committees, including the Local Governing Bodies (collectively called the Governing Body), on governance, constitutional, legal and procedural matters.

Interested applicants should hold a relevant degree or equivalent (Education / Business Administration / HR / Law) or have extensive relevant and recent experience.

Additionally, you should possess or be willing to work towards a relevant professional qualification, e.g. Academy Clerks / Company Secretarial qualification.

Candidates should have experience of working with Committees or similar groups as Clerk/Secretary and ideally, although not essential have recent experience of working with a School or similar organisation, in a Governance role.

Applicants should have knowledge of formal conduct of committee business, including legal and financial frameworks and have recent experience of note/minute taking.

You will be expected to support the implementation of the Trust’s vision and values, ensuring Trust policies are promoted and adhered to and through excellent interpersonal skills, you will foster effective relationships with stakeholders in the Trust.

Days of work are flexible to meet the demands of the role, however, it is essential that you are able to work flexibly, including evenings, as and when required.
