County Speech and Language Support Assistant - Term Time plus one week.
Education - Special Educational Needs required from July 2017.

The SALSP team is looking for a creative and enthusiastic colleague with good interpersonal and communication skills to join the team. You would be joining a highly valued team that provides a wide range of speech and language support and intervention programmes within schools and that works closely with our colleagues in the SEND and Inclusion Service. We are based at the Education Development Centre in Spennymoor.

You will need to be an experienced teaching assistant and have considerable experience of working in schools with children who have speech, language and communication difficulties. The role will involve delivering support and intervention to children within their own school settings, either one to one or in small groups as well as supporting the development of school-based TAs.

We offer an induction package and supervision as well as peer support and we are committed to providing opportunities for professional development.

Own transport or means of mobility is essential as you will be required to travel around the Local Authority.

You will have:-

• a relevant qualification such as: NNEB (Cache Level 3); BTEC Diploma in
Caring Services ; NVQ Level 3 in Child Care and Education/Early Years Care
and Education
• Experience of working with/supporting pupils with Speech and Language
Difficulties in the mainstream classroom in Key Stage 1 or 2.
• Experience of delivering Speech and Language Therapy Programmes within
a school setting
• your own transport arrangements to enable you to travel distances
between schools
