The Gateshead Housing Company is a non-profit organisation responsible for the day-to-day management of almost 20,000 homes.

We aim to provide excellent and efficient services to create homes and neighbourhoods that meet the aspirations of the people of Gateshead.

We employ over 700 people and involve our customers in making our services better.

Working in our HomeRepairs Reporting Service you will be the first point of contact for over 21,000 customers.

As a Customer Service Assistant your main task will be taking calls from our customers who wish to report a fault with their property.

You will listen to our customers and help them by diagnosing the fault.

You will accurately enter the details into our computer system and agree with our customers an appropriate appointment date for an operative to visit.

This role is contact-centre based and will require technical understanding of housing repairs and the terminology associated with this: however, full training will be given.

It is essential that you have a minimum five GCSEs or equivalent at grade C or above or hold relevant experience.

Previous experience in a customer service environment or contact centre would be an advantage as well as a high standard of verbal and written communication skills.

You should possess good computer and keyboard skills as well as good telephone communication skills with acceptable levels of listening and understanding.

You will also have the ability to deal with callers in a professional, caring and helpful manner and be able to use your initiative in problem solving.
