Collingwood Primary School is an inner city primary school situated near Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and close to the coast at Tynemouth. We are a two form entry school, and have excellent facilities, including 3 halls and extensive grounds.
The governors are looking for an exceptional school leader to succeed our Headteacher, who retires this academic year after 19 years at Collingwood. We hope to appoint a leader who is in sympathy with the school’s values and has the vision to lead the school to even greater achievements.
Our school is a happy nurturing environment which also achieves very good results and good OFSTED outcomes. We are committed to a broad and balanced curriculum, and place a strong emphasis on enriching the curriculum, especially in the arts and PE. However, we also pay great attention to the basics, and outcomes in English and maths are good – in maths well above national averages.
Our children and staff love coming to school. Although our school has families who experience great challenges, the children are a delight, and we have been able to appoint highly qualified staff from a wide field who are passionate about what they do. The staff team is excellent, both teachers and TA staff, and are completely committed to getting the best for our children.
The school is part of a group of five primary schools close to each other, who are in the process of converting to a Multi-Academy Trust – the North of Tyne MAT.
