Further Information
King Edward Primary School is an over-subscribed and much larger than average primary school, with 498 pupils. This includes a 78 place Nursery. From September we will also be offering additional EYFS provision for eligible 3 year olds; this will provide an extra 15 hours of EYFS provision for up to 52 of our Nursery children. In order to provide this for our families we are about to begin an extension to create new EYFS space.

We have our own onsite child care provision run by ourselves. This offers before school and after school childcare for our children during term time. We also provide holiday club during school holidays; therefore we provide education and childcare from 7.30am – 6pm, 51 weeks a year.

Our children and families are at the heart of what we do and we are a school firmly rooted in our school community. Our parents are a significant part of our school life and there is a thriving FOKE team (Friends of King Edwards) who work closely with the staff to raise funds and organize a range of events for our children and families, within and outside of the school day.

Our school is forward thinking and all communication with families is electronic. Our school is part of the North Tyneside Learning Trust, we are a Maths Hub school and members of our school team support other schools to develop their practice.

Due to the retirement of our much loved school business manager who is a pivotal part of our school team, Governors are looking to appoint a highly effective and motivated School Business Manager from the 1st September 2017, to support the continued development of our thriving school. We are seeking to appoint a warm, caring and committed individual to become a key member of our Senior Leadership Team.

The successful candidate will take on the strategic development and management of finance, human resources and administration. The post will also include a strategic role in overseeing elements of the on-site childcare and will include working in partnership with the Governing Body, Head teacher and SLT. Duties would also include responsibility for managing external funding, working alongside external agencies and play a major role with income generation e.g. lettings, seeking funding and preparation of bids. The post holder will be responsible for managing procurement and for securing any relevant sponsorship.

The School Business Manager will be responsible where required, for seeking out and sharing relevant specialist advice and guidance to the SLT and Governing Body on national and local guidelines, policy and statue.

The successful candidate should ideally have:
• Warmth, compassion and excellent people skills
• Highly effective communication skills
• Ability to analyse, present and interpret data
• Relevant experience in human resources, administration and finance
• Highly effective leadership and management skills and experience of line management and appraisal
• Ability to think and work strategically both independently and as part of a team
• Experience of income generation and partnership working
• Entrepreneurial flair, vision and creativity
• Ability to introduce and manage change

Whilst the successful candidate may have experience of working in a school, it is not essential to the post. Relevant training will be available where necessary.

This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to work strategically as the school continues to evolve. There is the potential opportunity for the right applicant to develop in the post with the support of the Head teacher and Governors.

The post also includes responsibility for some support staff and you will be expected to manage and develop these staff in order to ensure the smooth running of a busy school office and site, including supporting with recruitment, DBS checks, the upkeep of personnel records and the single central record.

King Edward Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. As such an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) disclosure will be sought along with other relevant employment checks deemed appropriate.

This post is full time and 52 weeks a year. The post may involve some flexibility of hours to meet the needs of the school.

Visits are warmly welcomed and there will be an opportunity to visit the school on Wednesday 3rd May at 9.15 am or Friday 5th May at 9.15am. Please contact the head teacher directly via email should you wish to attend.

Interviews will take place on Friday 26th May 2017.
