We want to appoint an Assistant Curriculum Leader for Science for September 2018, to join our Science department. If successful, you will be joining a committed team of professionals who are raising standards and determined to develop the quality of teaching in the department and improve learning outcomes for all learners.

Longbenton is a high performing, successful 11-18 school and we are looking to appoint an Assistant Curriculum Leader: Science from September 2018. The science department is a vibrant and important team in the school and incorporates a number of subjects that include GCSE Combined Science, GCSEs in Separate Science, A’ Levels in Physics, Chemistry and Biology as well as Level 3 Applied General Science. The department is to be led by a newly appointed Curriculum Leader from September which makes this an excellent opportunity for a new leadership in the department to move things to the next level. This post is to assist the Curriculum Leader by either taking the lead on a key stage or the lead in the teaching of biology, chemistry or physics through KS3 to KS5, which will be decided by discussion with the successful candidate. However, the successful candidate must be able to teach biology, chemistry or physics to A’ Level.

These are very exciting times for us and this is a wonderful opportunity for someone to join us at a key point in our development and be part of something innovative, challenging and rewarding. The school is inclusive, comprehensive in its intake and a focal point of the local community. Longbenton offers the successful candidate a whole-hearted commitment to professional learning that places individual development at the heart of its ethos.

This is an important appointment for our school, the main responsibilities for which are set out in the applicant’s pack which you will find on our school website, www.longbenton.org.uk.

Science is an important department in the school and we are a great place to join to develop your career further in our brand new facilities. Above all, we are looking for someone who is, or has the potential to be, an excellent teacher. In return you will work in a very supportive environment with students who want to learn and a staff who are keen to collaborate and develop their practice.

Making the decision whether to apply for a new post is always challenging on a number of levels but hopefully the information pack provides you with all of the information that supports you in choosing to proceed and make an application. You will be able to see more of us as a school through our website, www.longbenton.org.uk, but if there is additional information that you need in making your application please feel free to get in touch.

Closing date for receipt of applications is noon on Friday 18th May 2018 with interviews the following week.
