Norham High School is an 11 – 16 comprehensive school serving part of the South East locality of North Shields. Over the past 3 years Norham has seen a rapid improvement in attainment at Key Stage 4 and ‘the dynamic leadership of the head teacher, supported by a dedicated and enthusiastic senior team, has brought about significant improvements in the quality of teaching’ (Ofsted 2012).

The school has won national awards for its work in Investors in People and staff work relentlessly to promote academic success. Applications for this post are invited from people who are keen to join an organisation that is recognised for the high quality care and support it provides for its pupils and staff, its committed staff team and the drive to raise standards at all levels.

You will join an enthusiastic, multi-disciplinary team who provide high quality and effective support for pupils with a range of additional educational needs. Pupil support ranges from pupils with language and communication difficulties including pupils on the Autistic Spectrum, to in-class mainstream support for pupils with physical or learning difficulties. You will be enthusiastic and take an innovative approach to the development of this successful educational provision. You will have an interest in working with pupils with communications difficulties and Autistic Spectrum Disorders in this inclusive mainstream environment. Knowledge of behaviour management and visual strategies (E.G. TEACCH) would be advantageous. For more information please do not hesitate to contact Jacqui Johnson, SENCO.

This post is fixed term up to 31st August 2019, term time only over 195 days, 32.5 hours per week.
