An opportunity has arisen in North Tyneside to appoint an enthusiastic and resourceful part time qualified Educational Psychologist. Additional EP capacity is needed in response to the high demand for our traded services.
The Educational Psychology Service (EPS) is recognised as having a key contribution to make to the vision and principles set out by the Children, Young People and Learning directorate. Feedback from service users has indicated that Educational Psychologist involvement is linked to children’s inclusion, attainment and social and emotional well-being. We are well placed to bridge education, health and social care and promote integrated multi agency working.

In collaboration with North Tyneside Learning Trust and local schools we also engage in participatory action research to promote the use of inclusive evidence-based practices to help children and young people overcome barriers to educational achievement; and social and emotional well-being.

We have successfully operated under a traded service arrangement with schools and other agencies since 2012 and have seen demand for the service grow year on year. Our Service Level Agreement distinguishes between a core offer of non-chargeable services for fulfilling statutory duties and commissioned activity including:
• consultative support to school staff, parents / carers
• participatory action research and evaluative research
• therapeutic support to children and young people 0 to 25 years
• assessments of special educational needs and disabilities
• assessment for special examination arrangements
• design and implementation of personalised programmes of interventions
• design and delivery group level interventions for with children, young people and school staff
• design and delivery of workshops for parents / carers
• delivery of staff training and professional development activities
• bereavement and critical incident support to schools.

You must have an honours degree in psychology recognised by the British Psychological Society and a postgraduate qualification in Educational Psychology. You must be registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council or eligible for HCPC registration at the end of your training.
