North Tyneside Council is seeking to recruit staff nurses to work within the 0-19 Children’s Public Health Service. The staff nurse will be part of a skill mixed team, supervised by a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse, to provide a wide range of health related services to children from birth to their transition into primary school and beyond. The post holder will work within a fully integrated locality team with a focus on prevention and early help. The aim of the 0-19 service is to promote and protect the health and well being of children, young people and families, providing universal access to the Healthy Child Programme with early identification of additional and needs.
Adopting a whole family approach, the staff nurse will establish and maintain effective communication with various individuals, groups and agencies.
They will provide guidance, support and resources to enhance a parenting/caring role. The post holder aims to empower individuals, families and communities to influence the provision of local services and access appropriate provision to meet their health needs. The role involves attendance at multi agency safeguarding conferences and contributing to the decision making involved in the safeguarding of children and young people.
The essential requirements for this post are:
• 1st level registration (Registered Nurse / Midwife) with current NMC registration
• A mentorship qualification or willingness to undertake the qualification within 6 months of start date and evidence of relevant nursing experience with knowledge of safeguarding policies
• An awareness of current national and local public health policies
• Evidence of on going professional development is desirable
• The ability to meet the travel requirements of the post
