We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Healthy 4Life Team within the 0-19 Children’s Public Health Service based at North Tyneside Council. The successful applicant will join a multi-disciplinary team including a public health nurse, a Dietitian and sport and leisure staff to provide the service which supports families and children to achieve and maintain weight loss. The team assess and recruit families, deliver a 10 week practical programme of lifestyle and physical activity education and maintain contact to help support long term change. The post holder will work closely with the team to recruit and retain families and will maintain direct contact with them in the long term.

You will support delivery of the practical education sessions and will assist with general administration duties including sending written correspondence and inputting data. The post holder must have excellent communication skills and the capacity to relate to families who have very different and sometimes complex needs. You should have experience and confidence working with children in a community setting and delivering group sessions. The post holder will have an awareness of safeguarding policy and procedures and understand the importance of escalating safeguarding concerns. Additional physical activity and nutrition qualifications and food hygiene certificate would also be desirable.

The hours are full time and you must be prepared to be flexible working into the evening and also at weekends to meet family and business needs. The post holder will be required to travel to a number of venues across North Tyneside.

Support and supervision will be given to assist you in carrying out your duties and to ensure you maintain professional development.

Essential criteria: GCSE Maths and English or equivalent
