Social Worker (Children’s Disability Team)
Grade 8 from March 2019 - Maternity cover for up to a year

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified and experienced social worker to join the Children’s Disability Team to provide maternity cover from March 2019.

The Children’s Disability Team works with children who have severe and complex disabilities, assessing their need for and providing support to those identified as children in need, those who are subject to child protection plans, those who are subject to care proceedings and those who are looked after by the Local Authority.

We also work very closely with Adult Social Care supporting smooth and positive transitions and co-producing a whole life disability service with our parents and partnership organisations.

The work in the Children’s Disability Team is interesting, varied and challenging and offers experience of every kind of social work. You will have the opportunity to expand your professional experience, but also specialise in areas of interest.

You will be an enthusiastic team player who is passionate about achieving the best possible outcomes for disabled children and their families. Multi-disciplinary working, organisational skills and the capacity to manage complex cases are a priority. Whilst social work with children with disabilities is not essential, experience or knowledge of children with disabilities/complex health needs and/or those with additional needs is a must. This can be via paid, community or voluntary work or personal experience.

You will be an effective communicator with the ability to work as part of a team, to build relationships and engage with disabled children, young people and parents/carers. You will have the ability to produce concise, effective and accurate written work and follow departmental procedures, whilst working in a busy environment.

The successful candidate will be offered regular supervision, a supportive, enthusiastic team, opportunities to develop and work/life balance. We offer a range of excellent in house and bespoke training and joint training with health colleagues is also available.
