0-19 Children’s Public Health Service are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, passionate and innovative safeguarding nurse advisor to support the delivery of the safeguarding children and young people agenda.

The 0-19 Children’s Public Health Service has been integrated into the Council since April 2017 and a CQC inspection in March 2018 recognised areas of outstanding practice and highlighted that;

“The service prioritised vulnerable children and families appropriately. Managers and staff were acknowledged as having high levels of integrity, driving continuous improvement and held themselves accountable for delivering change.”

We are looking for a professional with a minimum of 4 years clinical experience ideally within a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse role who can demonstrate a passion for safeguarding children and young people. The post holder will provide safeguarding supervision, training and support to the staff of the 0-19 children’s public health service within North Tyneside Council. The post holder would need to evidence a commitment to working in a challenging environment.

The post holder will support the Senior Manager in the provision of good professional practice within the organisation, and provide advice and knowledge to staff and partner agencies. They should have specific expertise in children’s health and development, child maltreatment and local arrangements for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

The essential requirements of the post are :
• 1st level NMC registration
• 4 years post registration safeguarding experience
• Experience of safeguarding children policies and procedures
• Experience of current national and local public health policies.
• Ability to meet the travel requirements of the post
