The Sport and Leisure Service are looking to recruit a new Business Development Assistant.

The post holder will be responsible for daily clerical, analytical and research tasks to maintain and develop the business.

These include:
• processing of memberships for partners and customers (Easecards)
• ordering goods and services and raising invoices
• managing relevant stock levels and manual and digital databases related to the service. For example, swimming lesson waiting lists and football pitch bookings
• undertaking word, data processing and IT based tasks including developing online forms and developing and maintaining databases.

A critical part of the role is direct customer engagement. You will be responsible for directly dealing with customer enquiries coming via telephone, e-mail or through social media channels.

The Business Development Team are the front face of the Active North Tyneside brand. Active North Tyneside is a joint initiative between the Sport and Leisure Service and the Public Health team. The team deliver projects which support and enable residents to improve their wellbeing through physical activity, lifestyle education and volunteering. Examples of queries you will respond to include providing information and registering new customers onto weight management and physical activity programmes, dealing with smoking cessation queries and signposting to wider services like the indoor sport and leisure sites. You will also proactively promote elements of the business at relevant events and locations, talking to residents directly and reporting on any feedback.

You will have excellent IT skills and be proficient in Microsoft Office software. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and have experience of working in a customer service environment. You will be highly motivated and have the ability to work independently as well as be a great team player.

You will also have 5 GCSE’s grade C (or equivalent) or higher, including Maths and English.

Experience of dealing with financial processing and proactive customer engagement would also be desirable.

This post is permanent, 32 hours per week.

Monday 9.00 - 17:00
Tuesday 9.00 - 16:00
Wednesday 9.00 - 13:00
Thursday 9.00 - 17:00
Friday 9.00 - 16:00
