We are appointing a female Day Centre Officer to support a lady who has a learning disability, to provide continuity and consistency of care and support.

You will have the relevant skills and diverse approach required to fulfil this role, including effective communication, partnership working, flexibility, reliability, motivation and have an empathetic approach to people with complex needs.

In addition, you will be required to demonstrate that you value an individuals' right to choice, dignity and respect and be committed to supporting them to reach their full potential.

It is essential that you have a minimum of an NVQ Level 2 in Social Care or an equivalent qualification and are committed to undertaking other training as part of your continued professional development; You should be able to competently demonstrate knowledge relating to key policies, legislation and guidance relevant to people with a disability. You should have a person-centred approach to individualised care planning and safeguarding vulnerable adults and have knowledge of supporting people who have a learning disability. You should have experience of the caring role, managing personal care, promoting choice and control, of using effective communication strategies and tools, working as part of a team, and be able to demonstrate competence in literacy and numeracy skills.

Experience of working with people with learning disabilities, working in partnership with other professionals/agencies, knowledge of IT systems and of relevant Health & Safety legislation would be desirable.
