As a Civil Engineering Degree Apprentice, you will develop skills, knowledge and experience working in Strategic Highways and Technical Services.

You will be based primarily in the Highway Network Management Section but a structured training programme will enable you to gain experience, further education and broad base skills within other sections including Highway Assets, Highway Structures, Drainage and Coastal Protection and Street Lighting.

The apprenticeship role involves supporting technical officers in planning for new roads and associated infrastructure. You will work alongside Technicians and Engineers reviewing technical drawings, using computer software to produce drawings to specified standards.

The apprenticeship will be based in County Hall, Durham but you may be required to work at any council workplace within County Durham.

You will be studying towards the Civil Engineer (Degree) Level 6 via Teesside University or Northumbria University.

You must have or expect to achieve a Level 3 qualification meeting 120 UCAS points, one of which must be Mathematics at Grade B/6 and another analytical science subject (or recognised equivalent) and a Level 2 qualification covering English and Maths e.g. GCSE grade 4 or above including functional skills.

You must be able to manage your time effectively and possess good interpersonal skills.
