Further Information
As one of the biggest councils in the country, with stable leadership and a proud tradition of delivering strong services, Durham County Council is facing the future with confidence. In our first 10 years as a unitary council we have achieved a great deal. Our success has been delivered through our great people and strong leadership, as well as creative thinking, partnership working and a sheer passion for what we do.
Sound legal advice underpins all of our activities from decision making to project delivery. We are looking to recruit a new Deputy Monitoring Officer and Legal Manager to help deliver the council’s ambitious programme of commercialisation, regeneration and economic development.
As a member of the Legal & Democratic Services Management Team, you will be supported by a dedicated group of staff, Members and senior officers across the council who have high ambitions for the county.
To help us reach our goals, we are looking for candidates with a track record of success in planning, property, procurement or commercial law and an ability to support major projects and financial investments. As Deputy Monitoring Officer, you will also have a sound understanding of local authority governance arrangements. We require an individual who can work corporately, as you will play a major role in developing our county over the coming years. It is an exciting time to join Durham – so if you feel you have the drive, skills and experience to make a difference in one of the most dynamic, beautiful and ambitious counties in the country, we want to hear from you.
