As a high performing Local Authority we are looking to recruit a highly motivated, qualified Social Worker for the Disabled Children’s Team who will be committed to providing good outcomes for Disabled children and young people.

The Disabled Children’s Team works with children, their primary carers and families to support them within the family home as well as promoting opportunities for them to access the community and develop their independence.

Social workers within the Disabled Children’s team support children who have a disability and their families via Child in Need Plans, Child Protection Plans, PLO Pre-Proceedings and Care Proceedings and continue to support children in our care who have a disability. Social workers work with children and their families to support them via a short breaks package where suitable.

The social workers work closely with colleagues in our SEND service with regards to Education, Health and Care Plans. The team work closely with specialist partnership agencies and adult services to ensure children who have a disability are supported throughout their childhoods and have a smooth and positive transition into adulthood.

Applicants will need to evidence experience of assessment, care planning, conflict resolution and direct work to ensure that children’s and young person’s voices are heard. This will include skills and ability to confidently assess and manage situations where there may be child protection issues and complex areas of vulnerability.

This post has been identified as suitable for flexible working which enables the postholder to work 40% of their working time away from the office
