The Service is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified, forward thinking individual to carry out the role of a District Business Fire Safety Officer as part of the Community Risk Management Section.

Your responsibilities will cover a broad spectrum of Business Fire Safety matters which will include the following areas:

Key Responsibilities of the District Business Fire Safety Officer:

• To carry out Fire Safety Audits in line with The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
• To prepare, issue and amend Alterations, Enforcement and Prohibition Notices, together with other appropriate enforcement action.
• To carry out fire safety legislative and goodwill Audits on all non-domestic premises as directed and produce reports or letters appertaining to such Audits, in line with statutory requirements including consultation on building design submissions.
• To examine submitted plans and prepare reports appertaining to the fire safety aspects of such proposals, in line with statutory consultations.
• To carry out such other duties as directed by the Chief Fire Officer commensurate with the role.

Expected knowledge, skills and abilities of the District Business Fire Safety Officer:

• Knowledge of relevant Fire Safety and associated Legislation
• Experience of maintaining records and handling sensitive and confidential information
• Ability to communicate complex information to various agencies in person and or in writing
• Ability to interpret plans and section drawings to a variety of scales
