We are looking to appoint 7 Domiciliary Care Workers within the service working generically across the borough of Gateshead in a variety of locations.

The posts will hold a 10 hour 'fixed term' contract for a period of 12 months from the date of commencement, with the opportunity to work additional hours. The time bands worked will vary from post to post to meet the operational needs of the service over a 24 hour period.

The role will provide compassionate, safe, effective and responsive care, to assist service users to exercise choice and control over their lives and promote their independence as much as possible.

This will involve working flexibly as part of a team with the direction from a Senior Domiciliary Care Worker to ensure provision of planned care (practical and personal) and support which encourages and enables vulnerable adults to maintain or regain as much independence and control over their own lives as possible.

You will also promote and ensure service delivery which values and respects the dignity, diversity, rights and responsibilities of individuals.

You will assist line managers in the monitoring and review of service users and advising of any changes in their circumstances to ensure the aims of care and goal plans are achieved and needs continue to be appropriately met; and will contribute to written communication regarding service users needs to ensure the effective delivery of the service.

Previous experience of working in a care setting and NVQ 2 in Health & Social Care is essential.

You should have experience of providing personal care in a formal capacity in social care settings and to demonstrate compassion and empathy in meeting the care needs of service users.

You should have Ability to provide sensitive and dignified personal care regardless of gender, have Knowledge and understanding of delivering enablement support, ability to demonstrate awareness of and respect for peoples diverse backgrounds and needs and have the ability to carry out service user Moving & Handling tasks in accordance with Council procedures

You should be able to work on own initiative and/or seek guidance when necessary to provide a service in a non-judgemental way to all service users, be prepared to work flexibly as an individual and as part of a team and have the ability to provide accurate written and verbal to line managers about care delivered and changes and developments observed regarding service users

You will provide excellent customer care and meet standards required within the Council's Competency Framework.

A Willingness to learn how to use basis IT equipment and software (such as smart phones) that may be required within the role.
