Within the Community Family Hub, Sure Start Children’s Centres are a statutory Government initiative and part of the local system of universal children’s services. They provide families with easy access to a range of community health services, parenting and family support, integrated early education and childcare and links to training and employment opportunities for families with children under the age of five.

Sure Start Children’s Centres are a key mechanism for improving outcomes for young children while reducing inequalities between the poorest children and their peers, as well as helping bring an end to child poverty.

This post is full time and sits within the West Community Family Hub team. You will provide Early Help to families to help improve outcomes for children and their parents/carers. Within this role early help involves: providing support and information to parents in the antenatal period; being active in the development and delivery of quality and innovative early learning and play opportunities, working in partnership with parents and local partners; being part of, and in some instances co-ordinating, a multi-agency package of support for families.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual with experience and sound knowledge of child development and experience of working with very young children and their families.

We are committed to protecting and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. This post is working in regulated activity. If you are successful we will undertake additional recruitment checks which will include a check to see if you have had any criminal convictions, a check of police information and we will check the barred list(s). It is a criminal offence for a barred individual to apply for a job in regulated activity.

Apply online at www.northeastjobs.org.uk.

As this post involves working with children, vulnerable adults or dealing with sensitive information, written references will be taken up and made available to interviewers before the final selection stage; even if you indicate otherwise.
