The North East LEP leads on the development and delivery of the North East Strategic Economic Plan (SEP) and other key strategic processes in the region. We aim to ensure that our region has fresh, up to date and forward-facing economic strategies and policies, underpinned by strong research, economic analysis and evaluation.

The Strategy, Policy and Analysis team leads this work in the LEP Executive Team, accountable to the North East LEP Board.

Our vision is “to ensure the LEP places up to date economic analysis, evaluation and evidence development at the heart of its work, and is looked to as focus for innovative, collaborative and policy-oriented evidence development”.

We work together with other parts of the LEP team and our regional and national partners from business, education and government to respond to opportunities and challenges we face. Our evidence underpins action to drive the creation of more and better job opportunities for our residents, shapes the regions economic strategies and policy priorities, and supports collaborative responses with our partners to key priorities like Covid 19 or the global drive to decarbonise the economy.

We are seeking an Economic Analyst who will work as part of the Research and Analysis Team, helping to support and contribute to building the regional economic evidence base. Activities will include undertaking economic data analysis and desk research including literature and evidence reviews to help inform our policy and strategy work, collaborating with colleagues internally and externally on data and research needs to support our programmes, and exploring and utilising new data sources and forms of analysis such as social listening.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is highly motivated and has excellent analytical and research skills, a background in economics (or equivalent) and who has an understanding and interest in the role of strategy, policy and analytical activities in driving forward our regions economic development.
