We are looking to recruit 2 permanent Educational Psychologists.

Gateshead is a successful, forward looking local authority committed to improving the outcomes of all children and young people, with the vision of "Making Gateshead a place where everyone thrives". As a Service, we are committed to applying evidence-based psychology to promote inclusion and achieve positive outcomes for vulnerable children and their families. We have offered a hugely successful traded service to Gateshead schools since 2012 and are now looking to expand the Service to increase our ability to offer early intervention and therapeutic work.

We are looking for:

* A dynamic individual, who is passionate about applying psychology across different settings to make a real difference for children and young people.

* A committed professional who possesses excellent interpersonal skills, as well as first-class oral and written communication skills.

* An individual whose skills include up to date knowledge of child development, consultation, assessment, therapeutic intervention, school systems and relevant legislation.

* A Psychologist who is flexible, creative and self-motivated, who would like to play a part in future team developments.



You will:

* Have knowledge of child development; school systems; current legislation and developments relating to special educational needs and disability rights; psychological assessments; a range of therapeutic frameworks.

* Be eligible for Chartered Status as an Educational Psychologist within the British Psychological Society or a Doctorate in Educational Psychology from a training institution accredited by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

* Be registered with the HCPC.

* Have a current driving licence and access to a car or means to mobility support.

* Have experience of working with children and young people in a variety of contexts and with a range of Special Educational Needs; communicating effectively with a range of people; managing a caseload, working under pressure and delivering to deadlines.
