1 post 20 hours per week – Discovery Museum (permanent)
3-4 posts for our Casual Facility Assistant Register. Various hours and locations across our venues.

Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums (TWAM) is a major regional museum, art gallery and archives service managing a collection of nine museums and galleries across Tyneside and the Archives for Tyne and Wear.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join this award winning service. We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated Facility Assistant to work as part of our Front of House team supporting Discovery Museum and Tyne & Wear Archives.

This is a practical, varied, hands on role. The successful applicant will contribute to the general security of the building, opening and closing the building and carry out daily health and safety checks to ensure safety of both visitors and staff. The job roles requires the post holder to undertake moving and carrying, setting up furniture for large events, talks, boardroom meetings and school classes. Therefore you must be able to do this in a large building.

Some experience of a customer-facing role will be beneficial, as the post holder will also be expected to give general advice to visitors and assist with emergency evacuations.

You must be willing to work to a roster pattern with regular weekend working with some additional hours for events and private hire.

Applicants should have basic numeracy, literacy and IT skills and be willing to undertake training in accordance with the role.

In addition to the permanent post at Discovery we are also looking to recruit 3-4 people who would like to join our casual Facility Assistant register to cover roles at Discovery Museum and all our other venues when staff take holiday or other leave. Hours and location for these roles would vary providing flexibility. Successful candidates for the casual register would be requested to attend an initial 2-3 week paid training / induction period.

Please email hrrecruitment@twmuseums.org.uk if you require further information about the roles. We are also hosting an open day at Discovery Museum where interested applicants can find out more about the roles and application process on Tuesday 17 May at 2.30pm.
