Further Information
Gateshead Council's Economic Development Service is responsible for leading the Council's efforts to create a strong, sustainable and inclusive economy. It works across the policy areas that drive growth - the business environment, labour market and physical infrastructure - with the aim of boosting prosperity and reducing economic inequality.

An opportunity has arisen for an individual to join the Service as a part-time (18.5hrs) FamiliesGateshead Employment Adviser for a fixed term period until 31 March 2019. The part time hours are Wednesday PM to Friday (2.5 days).

The role is based within the Employment Services Team and will support the delivery of the national Troubled Families programme by helping adults who are not in work move closer to and into employment.

Delivered locally as 'FamiliesGateshead' the programme delivers interventions to improve outcomes for children, young people, families and communities. The delivery model builds on the success we have already had in Gateshead on the Common Assessment Framework (CAF) and the Team around the Family (TAF).

The post holder will be required to support families who may be involved in crime or anti-social behaviour, affected by domestic violence and abuse, have children who need help or have not been attending school regularly and where family members have a range of health problems.

The role will involve multi-agency working, undertaking the role of lead practitioner where workless-ness continues to be an issue for the family and addressing problems relating to financial exclusion.

You will have knowledge of the issues associated with multiple barriers to employment, the local labour market and out of work benefits.

You should be qualified, or prepared to work towards an NVQ Level 4 in Information Advice & Guidance.

It is essential that you have experience of delivering interventions to help unemployed people move closer to the labour market, managing a caseload, partnership working, supporting people with multiple problems and/or chaotic personal histories and multi-agency working.

Previous applicants should not apply. Interviews will take place Tuesday 1 May 2018
