Newcastle City Council is focused on growing the local economy and reforming services to achieve better outcomes for our communities. We have succeeded in bringing the Great Exhibition of the North to Newcastle / Gateshead, progressed the regeneration of Stephenson Quarter and Science Central, delivered the highest number of new houses for decades and embedded our Family Insights service to better meet family needs.

However, like many other local authorities, we are facing big financial challenges at the moment. In the context of continuing austerity, it is essential we make the best use of the resources at our disposal to maximise performance, efficiency and customer satisfaction as far as possible. We currently have a Finance Partner vacancy that plays a key role in achieving these aims.

The Finance Partner will play a vital role in supporting managers to improve the financial performance of services and develop / implement revenue and capital projects, and will work with managers to improve their financial skills and acumen. To be successful in this role you will need a demonstrable track record of applying your financial skills and expertise to resolving complex business issues and improving financial performance, and have a proven track record of building trust and working collaboratively with non-finance professionals.

For further information, or for an informal discussion please contact Mark Nicholson on (0191) 211 5115/mark.nicholson@newcastle.gov.uk.
