Further Information
The Tees Valley Combined Authority (TVCA) is a statutory body for Tees Valley. The five Tees Valley local authorities, Darlington, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar & Cleveland and Stockton, alongside the business community and other partners, unite within the Combined Authority to improve the economic potential of the area through development, transport, infrastructure, skills and most importantly through culture. The Combined Authority creates a single voice for the area on these key matters, providing greater power and resources for the Tees Valley area. It builds on the areas’ existing assets and helps to strengthen the local economy, bringing with it new business investment, the creation of more jobs, improved transport links and improved local skills.

The Authority incorporates the highly successful Local Enterprise Partnership, which previously operated under the brand Tees Valley Unlimited, and sustains strong links with the local business community and other partners. In October 2015, the five Tees Valley local authorities and the Tees Valley Local Enterprise Partnership signed a devolution deal with Government. The deal provided for the transfer of specific powers and responsibilities on economic growth, including transport, skills and regeneration from Whitehall to the Tees Valley. The Tees Valley devolution deal also included the establishment of a Tees Valley Investment Fund to drive economic growth in the Tees Valley. An additional £15m per year will be invested by the Tees Valley, alongside existing capital funding devolved for investment in the local economy. Some of this is being invested in the development of Culture and Tourism.

Great Place: Greater Tees is an ambitious multi partner, Tees Valley wide culture and capacity development programme led by Tees Valley Combined Authority and funded by the joint Arts Council England, Heritage Lottery Fund and Historic England ‘Great Place’ scheme. The £1.5 million Programme, led by TVCA, and developed in partnership with arts and cultural organisations that are closest to our communities and span the Tees Valley geography and demography offers the opportunity to build communities and engagement.
We aim to use culture to create genuine, shared and positive sense of place and identity across the ‘new’ Tees Valley (under the TVCA). This identity will inform our local social and economic policies.

We believe that alongside strengthening and increasing the resilience of the cultural infrastructure, skills and sustainability of creative organisation, this work will connect communities particularly those disempowered or marginalised, through high quality participatory work, delivering a range of outcomes including empowerment and personal development. The Tees Valley communities will explore and celebrate the artistic life and heritage that’s meaningful to them and place our communities and arts and heritage organisations at the heart of delivery in the Tees Valley.

The overall purpose of the post is to manage and deliver a programme of inspiring and engaging work enabling many people of Tees Valley to participate in arts and culture for the first time. The project manager will build capacity in cultural delivery and ensure that the project outcomes are delivered on time and within the defined budget.
