As part of a special educational needs review of provision for our young people in Redcar and Cleveland we now are looking to recruit a Head Teacher to transform learning for children and young people who may be disengaged from education. As the leader of this establishment you will be part of the Educational Improvement Partnership and work closely with mainstream schools In order to drive forward the vision for a learning environment that engages, stimulates and motivates vulnerable learners.

We wish to appoint a dynamic, creative and experienced Head to lead and manage and guide all aspects of our Pupil Referral Unit.

The Pupil Referral Unit provides support and intervention for those children and young people who have significant emotional, special and/or behavioural difficulties. The Head will transform the Pupil Referral Unit into a successful establishment which will enable young people to return to mainstream or specialist schools. They will ensure that individual plans are made for each child to allow the best outcomes to be achieved.

A strong focus on positive outcomes for learners through behaviour management curriculum development including Foundation Learning and partnership working is essential and the successful candidate will demonstrate inspirational management change. Empathy and aspiration for vulnerable young learners and a commitment to raising their standards of attainment and achievements are a prerequisite for this post.

You will lead the overall teaching and learning provision, along with the behaviour, safety and welfare provision across the whole of the service. This will ensure that all pupils are provided with opportunities, which excite, stimulate and build their confidence and self-esteem to enable them to face the world.

You will create effective systems and strategies that will support the development of good behaviour for learning across the service, to ensure that every pupil achieves their potential both in academic and emotional development.

As a dynamic leader, you will offer support and challenge to other leaders in the service ensuring all pupils receive pastoral support. You will take overall responsibility for the regular monitoring and tracking of the attendance, conduct and behaviour.

You will lead the service and make decisions about matters of routine organisation enabling the smooth day by day running of the Pupil Referral Unit.
