Further Information

North Tyneside Council is recruiting a new Head of Digital, Data and Technology.

This is a critical appointment for the Authority: the successful candidate will be the Chief Information Officer, tasked with driving forward the Digital and Data Strategies, and playing an integral part of the Plan for Change programme.

The DDAT team play an important role in the borough, supporting both internal and external customers.  Within the Authority, the Digital and Data Strategies are established but delivering against these are critical in making the organisation fit for the future from a digital perspective.  For the wider borough, our residents, businesses and visitors deserve a high quality service, ranging from connectivity to schools, public wifi and modern CCTV provision.

The successful candidate will report into a Director and the wider Senior Leadership Team, also working closely with elected Members.  They will be responsible for a team of around 120 professionals and a significant revenue and capital budget.  Digital developments will be a key part of the Authority’s Plan for Change, as it strives to balance improving services with a balanced budget position.

The successful candidate

As well as leading the DDAT service, the successful candidate will join an excellent Head of Service cohort in the organisation, who collectively lead the wide range of services delivered by the Authority.

You will need to be able demonstrate excellent skills from a technical perspective coupled with leadership experience, along with the ability to work on a collegiate basis with a range of professionals and elected Members in the organisation.

Our Carbon Net-Zero 2030 Action Plan

In 2019, North Tyneside Council declared a climate emergency. This declaration set a target to reduce the carbon footprint of the council’s operations, and the borough, by 50% by 2023 and to align to the Government’s net zero target of 2050.

We recognise the significant role we can play in the borough in helping to limit climate change, but we can’t do this alone; we need help from all our residents, businesses, voluntary and community sectors and of course all those who apply and work for us.
