Further Information
Middlesbrough College is the largest Further Education College in the Tees Valley, and an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Governance / Clerk to the Corporation as a result of our current Clerk to the Corporation (Richard Atkinson) securing a promotion outside of the College.

This role will be vital to the future success of Middlesbrough College, and the successful candidate will provide an essential link between governance, our vision, our strategy, our employees and our students.

The College has a strong platform on which to grow, and your skills and experience may be exactly what we need to build on the success of the College, which has grown out of several mergers, and the relocation to its state of the art campus in 2008, with additional investment in a STEM technical centre and sixth form centre over recent years.

The successful candidate will have excellent administrative, interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to prioritise your workload and to work on your own initiative is key.

You will ideally be experienced in preparing minutes and reports, and be confident to give sound advice to the Governing Body whilst working effectively with the
Principal / Chief Executive, Senior Leadership Team, and other key managers to ensure that the Governors are able to discharge their duties effectively.

You will be accountable to the Governing Body, through the Chair, but will work closely with all twenty Governors and seven External Members, and be integral in supporting them in their role.

We are seeking a strong individual who is passionate about teaching and learning, and who would like to be part of an ambitious College, with an aspiration to improve the communities it serves. Experience of the Further Education sector would be an advantage, but not essential.

This is an exciting time to be joining the College, with an opportunity to play a pivotal role in transforming the College, and also developing your own career in a fast moving environment.

For informal discussion please contact Rob Davies, Chairman of Governors, on
07734 592616.
