We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Head of Service who will provide visionary leadership and management of the Councils Leisure, Recreation and Participation services. Working closely with the Assistant Director and other members of Senior Management.
The successful applicant will be positive, creative and solution focused to support the growth and development of key public assets and services. Using local insight and strategies to ensure the progression of key programmes of work, to retain and provide a good facility stock for maintained and increased participation.
The Leisure, Recreation and Participation Department has a broad range of facilities and services including Brierton Sports Centre, Headland Sports Hall, Mill House Leisure Centre, Carlton Adventure, Summerhill Country Park and Outdoor Activity, Sport and Physical Activity Participation Team and Externally funded programmes.
The post holder will have good awareness of how services and facilities can be delivered for the benefit of health, social and economic outcomes as well as maximising income generation opportunities.
The successful candidate will work effectively across internal and external partnerships and be aware of the local and national context of leisure and recreation operations and the wider participation agenda.
There is an expectation that the successful applicant will deliver successfully on organisational and department strategic priorities as well as financial targets, ensuring that progressions are well informed and approached in a professional and well informed manner.
