The Federation is made up of two schools, Fyndoune Community College (FCC) in Sacriston, and Durham Community Business College (DCBC) in Ushaw Moor. Both schools have seen rapid improvements in the past 18 months and the successful candidate will be required to maintain and build on current good practice. Arrangements are underway, subject to Local Authority approval, to amalgamate the two schools but keep both sites open and the successful candidate will need to provide leadership of a high quality in the academic, pastoral and management fields and be able to demonstrate evidence of the successful leadership and implementation of change in order to ensure the success of this process. Both schools were earmarked for academisation but the DfE has identified the amalgamation under Local Authority control as an effective alternative to this change. Capital funding from the DfE has been approved for the DCBC site which will greatly enhance the learning environment for pupils there.
