We are looking for a Health and Safety Coordinator with experience of working in health and safety to join a growing team in Sunderland.

This fixed term temporary position will support the existing Environmental Health and Licensing Teams and will assist in meeting the increasing demands of COVID-19 related enquiries to the Council. Main duties will include promoting the prevention of transmission of COVID-19 to businesses, providing business advice, communicating with the public on all COVID-19 related matters, maintaining the Councils database on COVID-19 activity, inspection of businesses and enforcement of legislation relating to COVID-19. Candidates should ideally have experience of undertaking health and safety inspections and other enforcement activity however we will consider individuals who possess other areas of specialist experience.

The ideal candidate should be able to change community and individual behaviour in relation to COVID-19 issues, by ensuring businesses adhere to social distancing and hygiene measures across the City using a range of skills including but not limited to good verbal communication, persuasion, advice and guidance or enforcement where necessary
