We are seeking to recruit to the Public Health Team based at Gateshead Civic Centre. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of Public Health in Gateshead. You will join a team of motivated staff in carrying out innovative Public Health programmes and projects to drive forward the Council's commitment to health improvement across Gateshead.

You will be responsible for training and supporting service providers who have been commissioned to deliver NHS Healthchecks and Stop Smoking Services. In addition will support providers to ensure they meet service specifications and targets set by Public Health Commissioners. You will also work closely with Public Health Programme Leads, to provide training for providers and wider communities to enable them to deliver wellness services, in accordance with the Gateshead Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA). The role also involves working with Programme Leads on contract and performance management activities.

You will be an effective Practitioner with a track record of delivery of Public Health training programmes and approaches.

As such, it is essential that you have a relevant Health or Social Care qualification at graduate level and have training qualifications in behaviour change interventions and National Centre for Smoking Cessation training competencies. You will have experience of both developing and delivering training and behaviour change programmes. You will have extensive knowledge and understanding of Public Health training standards and guidance required for wellness subjects and knowledge of NHS Health Checks Training and workforce development programme. You must also have extensive knowledge and understanding of key Public Health teaching and training approaches including: behaviour change and health improvement theory, asset based capacity building, Making Every Contact Count and Five Ways to Wellbeing.
