The team…

This is an exciting opportunity to join Gateshead’s Public Health Team in a key role to support the integration and development of whole system approaches to support people in Gateshead to live healthier, longer lives. Led by a clear vision, our aim is to ensure all local people are able to thrive at all stages of life, realise their full potential and enjoy the best quality of life. Our Health and Wellbeing Strategy sets out our ambition to strengthen the building blocks of health, using a place-based approach, to make a difference to people’s lives and reduce unfair health inequalities.

About the role...                                                                                         

In this role you will work with Senior Leaders across health and social care to develop programmes in support of our objectives and statutory responsibilities, ensuring effective partnership, collaboration and use of resources across the health and care system in Gateshead. You will support elected members and decision makers on the health and care agenda, ensuring they are fully informed of policy developments, the evidence-base, and programmes of activity, to support their decision making.

You will be based and managed within our Public Health Team and will work across the other elements of the Public Health and Wellbeing Group, the wider Council and the Gateshead health and care system. Working alongside your Public Health colleagues, you will lead on the improvement of health and social outcomes in Gateshead, supporting the progression and development of Gateshead’s Thrive Agenda, Health and Wellbeing Strategy, and Health and Wellbeing in All Policies approach. 

 

You will hold a work plan with specific lead areas of responsibility to include support and coordination of the Health and Wellbeing Board and Gateshead System Board, coordination and governance of other multi-agency groups related to integration and the health and care system, development of whole system approaches and integration, supporting strategic and policy development, and the Better Care Fund.

You’ll be paid a competitive salary £52,805 to £56,061 pa.

You will receive an annual leave entitlement starting at 28 days per year (pro-rata for part time employees) rising to 32, 2 of which may be fixed by the council at any time. You also have the chance to buy up to 10 additional holidays per year.
You’ll have the opportunity to participate in the Council’s Flexi time scheme, subject to management approval and business needs, which could be up to 26 flexi days per year.
