The Trading and Commercialisation Service within Gateshead Council are looking to recruit a full time Heating Engineer on a permanent basis. The role is within our Building Maintenance team to provide services to council buildings and external clients during an exciting time of service development.
The successful candidate will work at a variety of locations across Gateshead, installing, repairing and maintaining installations and will be expected to work with a lot of flexibility in terms of where they are employed.
The key roles of the post are included in the job profile and include a wide range of duties working on domestic and commercial heating and plumbing systems. At all times the successful candidate will be expected to liaise with clients and provide a high level of customer care as well as supporting safe work processes. Included in the role is the use of a Council vehicle so a full UK driving licence is essential.
It is essential that you have knowledge of maintenance and servicing regimes and relevant legislation, good verbal and written communication skills and experience of working on domestic and commercial boiler replacements and gas installations. Candidates must have working knowledge of relevant legislation including COSHH Regs. It is equally essential that you have time served / NVQ or equivalent gas and heating engineer qualification, non-domestic ACS gas qualification elements COCN1, CDGA1, CIGA1, a current CSCS card and a full (Category B) UK driving licence.
The role will involve working in locations where vulnerable adults and children are present and therefore employment will be dependent on a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
The role will involve working 3 weeks of 39 hours followed by a week of 32 hours, the use of a Council vehicle and access to the Local Government Pension Scheme is available as well as a number of other employee benefits of working for Gateshead Council.
