Applicable to: External vacancy Closing date: Midnight on Friday, 16 March 2018 The Gateshead Housing Company is a non-profit organisation responsible for the day-to-day management of nearly 20,000 homes. We aim to provide excellent and efficient services to create homes and neighbourhoods that meet the aspirations of the people of Gateshead. We employ over 700 people and involve our customers in making our services better. An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Housing Options Team to recruit two additional Housing Options Officers. We are expanding our team to ensure we are fully compliant with the new duties under the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017. Reporting to the Senior Housing Options Officer you will work with clients who are Homeless or at risk of homelessness. You will be responsible for interviewing, assessing and identifying prevention options while working with external partners, agencies and other internal sections that will improve outcomes for the individuals and families. Good interpersonal skills, empathy and sound judgement are essential in this role. You will need to be organised and self-motivated but also a good team player. The work in this service area can be difficult and stressful and you must be non-judgemental towards customers. It is essential that you have a minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent. You will need to be able to demonstrate experience of working with customers and achieving positive outcomes.
