Hartlepool has a strong commitment to reviewing and scrutinising children’s plans independently to make sure things happen for children in a positive way. The IRO will chair a whole range of conferences, reviews and meetings, encourage young people to participate in their own reviews and consult with them about service improvements. As an IRO you must be child centred, able to champion best practice and be confident in leading meetings to ensure that the best possible plans are being implemented for the children concerned.
You must be a qualified social worker with five years post qualifying experience in child protection and looked after children. You will have experience in supervising complex child protection and looked after children cases. As an IRO you will be committed to the principal of partnership working with families and other agencies and have a comprehensive knowledge of legislation and guidance relating to child protection and looked after children.
